Many bridges have received such name in Europe. This is not because of any malevolent quality of the bridge, but in order to explain their peculiar structural or aesthetic qualities. Fundamentally, these bridges were so good that they couldn’t be built by a human. Usually, they are always accompanied by folk tales about the devil making a pact with a human, who then proceeded to somehow deceive the daemon, forcing it to give up on their prize and leaving behind a supernaturally wonderful bridge.

This is probably the proof that you shouldn’t mess up with architects.

Based on Rakotzbrücke, Germany.
